This
package has been developed to assist parents in the selection of
quality child care. It can be used as a guideline and the suggestions
herein may help you choose appropriate child care to best meet your
family’s needs. We cannot guarantee the quality of the care
provided. We do not inspect, license or supervise the homes listed
here. We can provide information on nutrition, health, safety, first
aid, child development, behaviour management, daycare activities
and other pertinent topics to the parents and caregivers, to assist
and encourage good childcare.
A daycare program is one that should be selected
by the parent. Parents are best able to evaluate and choose childcare
for their own children because they best know their family needs.
The responsibility for selecting and employing a child care provider
rests with you, the parent. We will provide you with the necessary
names of caregivers, as well as information to help you assess a
provider and her home, but you must determine your needs, carefully
interview and check references before leaving your child in someone’s
care. Taking the time and energy to screen day care providers is
an important part of selecting a loving, quality environment for
your child.
